Former APC aspirant for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency rerun election, Hon. Bashorun Oladeji Adekunle, popularly known as OMOBAO, has paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, alongside the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.
The visit was described as a significant political engagement following Adekunle’s decision to identify with the APM and declare his support for Adekanmbi’s governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the meeting, discussions reportedly centred on the future of Oyo State, with emphasis on good governance, infrastructure development, inclusive growth, economic prosperity and improved welfare for residents across the 33 local government areas.
Governor Makinde warmly received the delegation and, according to those present, offered words of advice on leadership, governance and the responsibilities associated with public service.

Speaking on the forthcoming political transition and his relationship with Adekanmbi, Governor Makinde was quoted as saying:
“I will actively lead and support the campaign of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, but I will never interfere in his administration once he assumes office as the new Governor of Oyo State.”
The statement was described by the delegation as an assurance of political unity and a commitment to allowing any incoming administration under Adekanmbi to operate independently if elected by the people of Oyo State.
Bashorun Oladeji Adekunle expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage in what he described as an open, constructive and forward-looking discussion.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APM and pledged to work with Adekanmbi and other stakeholders towards building a greater, more prosperous and inclusive Oyo State.
The visit further highlights the growing political realignments and engagements ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with more stakeholders reportedly taking positions on the emerging political landscape in Oyo State.
