Relief For Akuro Residents As Hon. Akande Inspects Road Reconstruction

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, on Tuesday visited the ongoing road reconstruction project in Akuro area of the council to assess the level of work and quality of materials being used.

Hon. Akande, who was received on site by engineers and community leaders, said the project is part of the administration’s commitment to open up inner roads, ease transportation, and improve the standard of living of residents.

While inspecting drainage works, culverts and the road base, the Chairman expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work so far. He however urged the emgineers to speed up the project while maintaining international standards.

“This road has been in a bad state for many years and our people have suffered untold hardship. We are determined to change that narrative. The purpose of governance is to make life better for the people, and this reconstruction in Akuro is one of the ways we are delivering on that promise,” Akande said.

He added that the local government will continue to prioritize road infrastructure because good roads drive commerce, reduce accidents, and connect communities to markets, schools and health facilities.

Residents of Akuro who trooped out to welcome the Chairman commended him for fulfilling his campaign promises. Some of them noted that the road, when completed, will reduce flooding in the area and make movement of goods and services easier.

The council boss was accompanied on the inspection by the Supervisors, Special Assistants and other management staff of the local government.

Hon. Akande assured that the administration will monitor all ongoing projects across wards of Ibadan South West to ensure timely delivery and value for money.
