The wife of the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hajia Balikis Olatunji, has been conferred with the prestigious “Iya Sunna” title by renowned Islamic scholar and cleric, Imam Dahud Alawiye.
The conferment took place on Saturday, August 29, in Ibadan, as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of Imam Alawiye’s imamship.
The ceremony attracted political leaders, government officials, religious leaders, local government chairmen and their wives, as well as stakeholders and members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alliance in Oyo State.
The conferment of the title on Hajia Balikis Olatunji was described as a recognition of her contributions to the promotion of Islamic values, support for grassroots community development and humanitarian activities, as well as her commitment to supporting women and grassroots initiatives.

Among dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the Oyo State APM/PDP Alliance Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez; Executive Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government, Dr Temitope Glorious; Chairman ofOyoStateYouthsAgency, Prince Adebowale Falana; and Hon. Popoola Olaide Settle, APM Chairmanship Candidate for Oluyole Local Government.
Also present was Hon. Waheed Akintayo, member representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly; Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat, APM Chairman, Oluyole Local Government; wives of local government chairmen; and other political and community leaders.
The traditional institution in Oluyole Local Government was represented by traditional rulers led by Baale Oleyo, Chief Kabiru Olajide, and Akoda Oluyole, Chief Farinu Fashola.
The event also attracted APM stakeholders, party members and other prominent residents of Oluyole and adjoining communities.
The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity for guests to reflect on Imam Alawiye’s three decades of service to Islam and his contributions to religious propagation.
The chairman’s wife expression appreciation to Imam Dahud Alawiye, for finding her worthy to be a recipient of the award saying it would further motivate her to rededicate her life to the service of Allah and humanity.
She equally thanked her husband and chairman of Oluyole LG, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, describing him as her pillar of support.
She urged women in the society to endeavour to align with their complementary roles as partners in progress to both the home and society at large.
