Residents and road users along the Adeoyo State Hospital axis of Ibadan will soon heave a sigh of relief as the road linking the Ring Road/Adeoyo Roundabout to Olororo Junction, Orita Challenge, is set to undergo comprehensive rehabilitation.
The Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, alongside the Chairman of the Oyo State Road Management Agency (OYSTROMA), Mr. Ogunlade, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the road to determine the technical requirements for its total overhaul.
According to a statement by Odidiomo’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the assessment was carried out to obtain accurate technical measurements and identify areas requiring structural intervention.
Measurements were taken along the entire stretch of the road, with particular attention given to drainage channels, culverts and other critical sections of the corridor.

Mustapha explained that the planned intervention would go beyond routine repairs, stressing that the road would undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation. He disclosed that drainage and culvert works would commence in the coming days, with the drainage component taking priority before the major roadwork.
He noted that addressing the drainage challenges first would help tackle the underlying water-flow problems and protect the road from premature deterioration.
Following the completion of the drainage works, tarring of the road is expected to commence immediately, ensuring that the rehabilitation is executed to a durable standard.
The road is a major link connecting Ring Road, Adeoyo, the Adeoyo State Hospital axis and Orita Challenge, serving residents, motorists, businesses, healthcare facilities and other public institutions within the area. Its rehabilitation is expected to improve accessibility, ease vehicular movement and reduce the hardship currently experienced by road users.
Mustapha said the intervention reflects Hon. Olajide Odidiomo’s commitment to pursuing practical solutions to infrastructure challenges affecting residents and motorists, particularly through engagement with relevant government authorities and technical agencies.
He added that the immediate commencement of drainage and culvert works would constitute the first phase of the rehabilitation, while the subsequent tarring would complete the major surface work on the affected road corridor.
The statement concluded that the intervention is expected to bring significant relief to residents and road users along the Adeoyo–Orita Challenge corridor.
