APM Affirms Owonifaari as Chairman, Oladepo as Vice Chairman for Ibadan South East LG Election

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Ibadan South East Local Government has affirmed Hon. Saheed Abimbola Oladimeji Owonifaari as its Chairmanship candidate and Hon. Oladepo Ayodeji as Vice Chairmanship candidate for the local government election scheduled for December 2026.

The affirmation ceremony, held in Ibadan, drew a large gathering of party leaders, government functionaries and stakeholders from across the state. The turnout was described by party leaders as a demonstration of unity and commitment to victory in the forthcoming polls.

Among dignitaries present were Hon. Dare Adeleke, Hon. Abas Adigun, Federal Representative for Ibadan North/East, and Hon. Alawode, Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government. Also in attendance were Hon. Ige, Chairman of the Pension Board; Alhaji Tope Yusuff Supreme, Full Time Commissioner I at the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission; and Prof. Daud Sangodoyin, Oyo State Commissioner for Energy.

The event also had Hon. Afeez Adedoja Ekolo, Special Adviser on Energy; Leader Ajibade, a respected party leader; Hon. Yinka Omikunle, State Honourable representing Ibadan South 2; and Hon. Akande Modiu, State Honourable representing Ibadan South East 2.

Other notable attendees included Hon. Tilewa Folami, Director General of OYSIPA; Hon. Dele Ojo, Full Time Commissioner at the Oyo State House of Assembly Commission; and Hon. Olajide Oluwaole, APM Chairman in Ibadan South East. Several other party leaders and stakeholders were also present.

Speaking at the affirmation, the leaders charged the candidates to run an inclusive campaign and to carry all party members and aspirants along. They emphasized the need for unity, grassroots mobilization, and loyalty to the party’s ideals.

Party leaders also urged members to continue to support the policies and programmes of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration, noting that good governance at the state level provides a solid platform for APM to campaign at the local government level.

In his acceptance remarks, the consensus Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Saheed Abimbola Oladimeji Owonifaari, thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to run a people-oriented administration focused on development, youth empowerment, security, and improved service delivery at the grassroots.

Hon. Owonifaari also promised to work closely with all stakeholders, including other aspirants, to ensure victory for the party across all elective positions in Ibadan South East.

The Vice Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Oladepo Ayodeji, equally expressed appreciation to the party and assured members of his commitment to supporting the chairman in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

The Ibadan South East APM Chairman, Hon. Olajide Oluwaole, commended party members for their maturity during the consultation process. He called for total cohesion and aggressive mobilization ahead of the December 2026 election, expressing optimism that APM will emerge victorious in the local government.

Party stakeholders present expressed confidence that the emergence of Hon. Owonifaari and Hon. Oladepo through consensus reflects the party’s commitment to competence, unity and grassroots connection in Ibadan South East.
