A fresh crisis is brewing in the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after party stakeholders at both state and national levels alleged that the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun ALLI , was behind the removal of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu , from the APC Osun State Campaign Committee list.

The allegation, which surfaced on Tuesday, has triggered sharp reactions from supporters of both leaders and reignited concerns about unity within Oyo APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to multiple party sources familiar with

the matter, the updated Osun campaign committee list released by the APC National Secretariat did not include Chief Adelabu’s name – a development that came as a shock to many within the party.

Some stakeholders further alleged that Senator Sharafadeen Alli , in collaboration with “a prominent Abuja-based chieftain with tribal marks,” lobbied for the omission. They described the move as “politically motivated” and “divisive.”

As of press time, efforts to obtain official confirmation from the APC National Secretariat and from Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli ‘s office had not yielded any response.

Supporters of Chief Adelabu, who was the APC governorship candidate in Oyo in 2019 described the alleged removal as “unacceptable”and “a direct attack on their principal.

In statements circulated across party WhatsApp groups, some Adelabu Adebayo Adekola loyalists vowed to “resist any attempt to undermine the former minister” and called on the national leadership to intervene immediately to restore balance to the committee.

“Chief Adelabu has paid his dues to this party. Sidelining him will only weaken APC in the Southwest,”one supporter said.

The controversy has also spilled into public discourse in Oyo State. Some residents who spoke with our correspondent accused Senator Alli of “desperation” in his bid to become governor.

They cited what they called “poor performance” in the Senate and vowed to “reject him at the polls”if the party fields him without addressing internal grievances.

“People are watching. If you cannot unite the party, how can you unite Oyo State?”a trader in Ibadan asked. Other residents, however, urged restraint, warning that a public feud could damage APC’s chances in 2027.

Political observers say the development exposes deep divisions within Oyo APC that have lingered since the last election cycle. With 2027 approaching, analysts note that managing egos, ensuring inclusivity, and presenting a united front will be critical for the party’s survival.

“Campaign committees are not just about names. They are about signaling who matters in the party,” an Ibadan-based political analyst said. “If this is not handled well, it could affect voter mobilization.”

Party elders at both state and national levels are expected to meet in the coming days to address the grievances and prevent further escalation.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Senator Alli nor Chief Adelabu had issued an official statement on the matter.
