Ibadan South West LG Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Akande Donates Computers to NYSC, Receives Meritorious Award From Corp Members

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, has received commendation and a Meritorious Award from National Youth Service Corps members serving in the council in appreciation of his support for youth development.

The corps members, led by the Local Government Inspector, Mr. Gbadeyan Olayinka, paid a thank-you courtesy visit to the Chairman in his office today. The visit was to express gratitude for the Chairman’s recent donation of laptops to NYSC members serving in the local government to aid their official duties and improve productivity during their service year.

While addressing the corps members, Hon. Akande urged them to remain diligent, disciplined, and committed to contributing meaningfully to national development. He also encouraged them to plan for their future, prioritize personal security, and use the service year to acquire skills.

The Council boss further advised them to think beyond white-collar jobs and learn trades or skills that will make them self-reliant.
According to him, “Think of what you can learn during this period that will make you stand on your feet even without a white-collar job so that you can live a better and fulfilled life.”

Speaking on behalf of the corps members, the LGI, Mr. Gbadeyan Olayinka, expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman for his unwavering support. He described the donation of laptops as a clear demonstration of the Chairman’s love, commitment, and investment in youth development.

Mr. Gbadeyan noted that the laptops have significantly improved the efficiency of corps members and made their working experience within the council smoother and more effective.

In recognition of his exceptional fatherly role, selfless leadership, and contributions to the welfare of corps members, the NYSC members presented Hon. Akande with a Meritorious Award. They commended him for creating a conducive working environment and for consistently supporting initiatives that positively impact young people.

Present at the event were the Assistant LGIs, Officer in Charge of Corps Members, Mrs. Adeniyi Abosede, Corps Liaison Officer, Awomosun Adesola, and other corps members serving in Ibadan South West Local Government.
