The US and Iran have agreed a framework deal to end their war, with Pakistan saying it will be signed Friday in Switzerland.
The deal’s priority is to extend the 8 April ceasefire for another 60 days. Both sides will pledge no hostilities and commit to talks while the truce expands in time and scope, a correspondent said. The full text is yet to be published.
As part of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, US President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post: “Let the oil flow!” Oil prices fell after the announcement.
In Iran, the deputy foreign minister confirmed on state TV that a deal was reached, while the country’s top military command hailed it as a victory for Tehran.
Pakistan, which announced the agreement late Sunday, said “military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon” will end. Israel is yet to comment.
The war began with US and Israeli strikes across Iran on 28 February. Iran responded with attacks on Israel and US-allied Gulf states.
