The apex leaders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the 10 local government areas of Oke Ogun out of the 13.local governments making up Oyo North Senatorial District have endorsed Professor Adeolu Akande as their choice candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

The elders in a statement signed by all the 10 members drawn from the 10 local governments noted that the senatorial seat is open to be filled by Oke Ogun after 12 years of Senator Abdul Fatai Buhari from Ogbomosho n the seat, a position which they noted explained why all aspirants who collected the party’s nomination forms for the office are all from the Oke Ogun.

The leadership commended the leaders and members of the party from Ogbomoshon particularly Senator Buhari for relinquishing the seat for Oke Ogun in the spirit of equity and fairness.

They noted that the aspirants to the senatorial seat are all notable party members but the contributions of Professor Akande to the party and the general wellbeing of Oke Ogun qualifies him more for the office.

They noted that as Chief of Staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Professor Akande extended due respect to leaders and members of the party in Oke Ogun and expressed the conviction that he would promote the interest of the party as senator representing Oyo North.

The elders also noted that in his various appointments at the federal.level, Professor Akande had extended development initiatives to all.parts of Oyo State including Oke Ogun in a way that indicated that he would be an effective representative in the Senate.

They pointed at the N1.1Billion ICT Centre he facilitated for the Ladoke Akjntola University,Iseyin campus which they said is one of the major structures in the institution. They noted that the value of the project for lecturers and students cannot be over-emphazised.

They also pointed at the many ICT centres he facilitated in Ogbomosho, Saki,Ipapo,Igboho,Komu, iseyin, and Otu, among others as well as the extension of communication services to areas lacking the facility while he was Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) as evidence that he would do well if assigned the responsibily of representing Oyo North in the Senate.

‘Professor Akande has proved to be resourceful in all the positions he has held and we have no doubt that he would do well if elected to represent us in the upper legislative house’.

The elders also noted that Prof Akande is the most sellable aspirant for the Senate if the APC is serious about retaining the Senatorial seat in 2027.
