The Mission to Reset Nigeria Begins in Ibadan – Governor Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared that the mission to reset Nigeria must begin from the grassroots, pointing to Ibadan as the starting point for a new era of accountable leadership and people-centered governance.

Speaking at the PDP/APM Mega Unity Rally held at Mapo Hall, Governor Makinde said the challenges facing the country require deliberate action from states and local communities before they can be addressed at the national level.

“The mission to reset Nigeria begins in Ibadan,” Makinde told a crowd of party faithful and residents. “If we get it right here in Oyo State, if we strengthen our institutions, empower our people, and uphold the principles of good governance, then we are laying the foundation for a better Nigeria.”

The rally, organized to consolidate support for the PDP/APM alliance, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across Ibadan South West Constituency 1 and beyond.

Governor Makinde emphasized that resetting Nigeria is not about slogans, but about practical steps in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. He cited ongoing projects and reforms in Oyo State as proof that subnational governments can deliver tangible results when leadership is focused on the people.

He urged residents to remain engaged and to hold leaders accountable, noting that sustainable change depends on active citizen participation. “Leadership is a trust. When the people rise and demand better, we are compelled to deliver better,” he said.

Party stalwarts at the event described the rally as a demonstration of unity and grassroots mobilization ahead of upcoming political engagements in the state.

The gathering concluded with calls for unity across party lines in support of policies that prioritize development and social welfare.

Makinde’s remarks have since resonated across the state, with supporters framing the “reset Nigeria” message as a call to rebuild governance from the bottom up, starting with strong, responsive leadership in Oyo State.
