The Councilor representing Ward 06 (Idofin/Sagan-un) and Chief Whip of the Legislative Arm, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Jimoh Afeez Oyetunji, has announced his immediate resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His exit follows growing concerns over what he described as the party’s declining cohesion and inability to effectively manage its internal affairs at both the state and federal levels—developments he noted have eroded confidence in its leadership and weakened its political relevance.
Hon. Oyetunji stated that his decision reflects a deliberate and principled move to remain aligned with the expectations of his constituents and the demands of effective governance.

> “At this stage, it is important to take a clear stand in the interest of my people. Leadership must be anchored on discipline, direction, and a shared vision—values that must not be compromised,” he said.

While acknowledging the role the PDP has played in his political journey, he emphasized that the current realities make it necessary to chart a new course.

He assured the people of Ward 06 and Ibarapa Central at large of his continued commitment to responsive representation, legislative diligence, and grassroots development.

Details of his next political steps will be made known in due course.
Signed:
Hon. Jimoh Afeez Oyetunji
Councilor, Ward 06 (Idofin/Sagan-un) / Chief Whip,

Ibarapa Central Local Government
