Lagelu Chairman, Kamorudeen Leads Massive Show of Force, Addresses Environmental Infractions in Key Areas

The Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, on Thursday led a robust environmental enforcement exercise across key communities in the council area, with a strong focus on restoring order and hygiene.

The high-powered operation, which covered critical areas including the Academy area, Iwo Road axis, Akobo, and Olorunda-Aba, saw strict enforcement of environmental sanitation rules.

Newsmen observed that the exercise also targeted roadside trading, with traders engaging in the illegal practice being safely evacuated to designated trading zones within the areas.

The operation was conducted with precision as officials moved swiftly to address issues of indiscriminate waste disposal, blocked drainages, and other environmental infractions that constitute serious health hazards to residents.

Speaking during the enforcement drive, Hon. Kamorudeen reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a clean, safe, and well-organised environment for the people of Lagelu.

“We cannot fold our arms while environmental nuisances continue to threaten public health. This show of force sends a clear message that environmental laws will be enforced without compromise. We are equally addressing roadside trading by relocating affected traders to more suitable and safer trading zones,” the chairman stated.

He explained that the selected areas were prioritised due to persistent complaints about environmental degradation, street trading infractions, and poor waste management, which often exacerbate flooding and disease outbreaks, especially during the rainy season.

The chairman was accompanied by top council officials, environmental health officers, and security personnel who ensured the exercise was carried out in an orderly and professional manner. Many residents welcomed the move, describing it as a bold and necessary step towards restoring sanity in the affected communities.
