A youth organisation in Okeho, Kajola Local Government of Oyo State has disputed a publication which credited former Head of Service of the State ,Mrs Hannah Ogunesan with the establishment of the School of Health Sciences and Technology, Okeho.

In a statement signed by it’s president, Alhaji Kasali Adeyemi, the group noted that it was embarrassed by the report which it said was ‘totally false’ and ‘untenable’.
The statement noted that it is common knowledge in the ancient town that the College was the work of Dr Muyiwa Gbadagesin, a ‘son of the soil’ who as Commissioner for Health under Governor Abiola Ajimobi pleaded with his boss to establish the College and locate it in Okeho. It was in response to agitation for a higher institution in the town at the time.

‘Dr Gbadegesin is a well respected scholar who served.meritoriously as Commissioner of Health under Governor Ajimobi and because of his love for his hometown and commitment to bring development to the town impressed it upon the government to establish the College and locate it in Okeho’.

‘This is a fact known to everyone in Okeho and for which the community is grateful to him.

‘It is therefore sad that almost a decade after the establishment of the college, some revisionists are trying to re-write the history of the College.

‘ We will not want to be dragged into politics but we plead that the chequered history of our noble town be left out of any controversy. Dr Gbadegesin takes the honour for the.establshment of the college and not anyone else’.
