Before his advent into core politics, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, described as a true son of Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency by birth and inclination, and an ‘original omo ajorosun’, has consistently empowered people irrespective of nationality or religious leaning.

Since the advent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan in which he was a founding member, he has weathered political storms with the party without cross-carpeting, despite entreaties and invitations from other political parties seeking to absorb him and his numerous supporters.

Following his expression of interest to represent the Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly on the platform of the PDP, a significant number of constituents have assured him of being their preferred choice among other aspiring candidates in the constituency.

Mayegun Babanumi’s exemplary virtues have endeared him to both the old and the young. His soaring popularity and wide acceptance have led to the current political gridlock over adopting a consensus candidate for the PDP House of Representatives ticket in the constituency.

Addressing supporters, Mayegun Babanumi appealed for calm and assured them of Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership intervention in resolving the issues soon. He reemphasized his unwavering support and cooperation with Gov. Makinde’s leadership of the party in the state, irrespective of the outcome of the final decision on the current political impasse.

“As a loyal and faithful member of the PDP, I entreat you, my people, to be patient. I believe our amiable and performing Governor Seyi Makinde will always play on the platform of equity and fairness in the cause of democratic balance in the state,” Mayegun Babanumi said.

“With God’s daily release of HIS grace and blessings upon my life, I will continue to empower and lift people without any political undertone. This will only increase if and when you all continue to support and rally round me to achieve more in my aspirations,” he added.
