Weekly Reflections: Ona Ara LG Reconstructs Larodo Bridge After Over 20 Years of Neglect

Ona Ara Local Government under the purposeful leadership of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has successfully reconstructed the Larodo Bridge, a critical community infrastructure that had remained in a collapsed and deplorable state for over two decades.

The bridge, which serves as a major link for about 15 communities, had for more than 20 years posed serious hardship to residents, commuters, farmers, traders, and other road users who depend on the route for their daily movement and economic activities.

In fulfillment of his commitment to responsive and people-centered governance, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS ensured that the long-abandoned bridge was given urgent attention and fully reconstructed, thereby restoring hope and easing the transportation challenges faced by the affected communities.

The reconstructed Larodo Bridge was officially commissioned on 24th June, 2025, by the Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, whose presence added prestige to the historic occasion.

The commissioning ceremony turned into a moment of joy and appreciation, as residents and stakeholders from the benefiting communities openly praised Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS for listening to their cries and delivering a lasting solution to a problem that had lingered for over 20 years.

Community members described the project as a landmark achievement, noting that the reconstruction of the bridge would not only improve access and connectivity, but also enhance commerce, security, and socio-economic development across the axis.

The project stands as another testament to the determination of the Ona Ara Local Government administration to address critical infrastructural needs and improve the living conditions of the people.

Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects that directly respond to the needs and aspirations of the grassroots, stressing that no community under Ona Ara Local Government would be left behind in the drive for sustainable development.
