*OYO STATE DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL NGO; WEST AFRICAN WOMEN ALLIANCE & TEAM PAY COURTESY VISIT TO THE STATE COMMISSIONER FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS*

A delegation from the Association for Women Alliance (WAWA) ,ably led by the Oyo State Coordinator;Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Saka-Balogun visited the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs,Hon. (Mrs) Olutoyin Balogun in her office on the 9th of April, 2026.The visiting team were received by the Honorable Commissioner Hon(Mrs) Toyin Balogun, the PS Mrs Roagess and the rest of the Ministry’s management team

WAWA is an international NGO with thematic focus on the empowerment of Women and young girls with support from ECOWAS and other International donor agencies

This visit was scheduled significantly as part of the NGO’s networking Agenda in Sub Saharan Africa.

Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Balogun,the Oyo State Director,while reiterating the purpose of the visit extended the courtesies of its National Director: Chief ( Mrs) Carew to the Honorable Commissioner.Shr stated that the mandate of the Alliance was targeted towards reinforcing the sustainable empowerment of women through advocacy programs, economic empowerment, rights based opportunities and achuevement of social, economic and enhanced participation of women in the political space

She further stressed the readiness of the Association to collaborate with the Ministry to achieve its core mandates as reflected in Omituntun Agenda of the Present Administration in the State under the Transformative Leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State Eng. Abiodun Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE.

Responding to the WAWA State Coordinator’s submission, the Honourable Commissioner, Hon(Mrs) Toyin Balogun fullsomely received the Association in her Ministry, particularly for it’s decision to support the Ministry in achieving its constitutional mandate with respect to the female demographic of the state

She emphatically enumerated the core mandates and responsibilities of the Ministry to include Social Protection , responsibility for the welfare of Women, Children, the Elderly,the Physically Challenged, Poverty Alleviation, Community Development in 33 local governments of the state and certain elements of the security architecture in the state

Consequently, the Honourable Commissioner reassured the *WAWA* team that the State Govt is ready to partner with and support the NGO on any intervention in the best interest of the vulnerable populations of the state

Thereafter, the WAWA State Coordinator, Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Saka Balogun expressed the Association’s gratitude for the warm welcome afforded it’s team and delivered a letter conveying the Association’s goodwill and readiness to collaborate with the State through the Ministry

to actualize targeted programs that the women in the state can benefit from

The event was rounded off with group photographs with the Honourable Commissioner, Hon (Mrs) Toyin Balogun, WAWA Oyo State Director Chief ( Mrs) Abiodun Saka Balogun,Hon Kemi Bello; National Ex Officio of the PDP, the permanent Secretary, Mrs Oluyinka Mosunmola Roagess, Director Women Programs, Directors and other ministry officials in attendance.
