*MAKINDE’S COMMISSIONER CELEBRATES A DISTINGUISHED, STELLAR AMAZON: SENATOR MONSURAT SUMONU*

The Oyo State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon (Mrs) Toyin Balogun has extended warm felicitations to a distinguished matriarch, trailblazer, and an icon of progressive leadership, Alhaja Monsurat Sunmonu, on the joyous occasion of her 67th birthday anniversary tosay April 9th 2026.

Describing her as a “Mother of All” a bastion of support and encouragement to many on the political turf, including her and many othetd abd a beacon of hope for generations of women in leadership, the Commissioner lauded her remarkable journey as the first female Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and an impactful, distinguished former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She noted that Alhaja Sunmonu’s life has remained a shining testament to courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to public service.

In her congratulatory message, the Commissioner emphasized that Alhaja Sunmonu’s legacy continues to inspire countless women and young girls across Oyo State and beyond to aspire for leadership and break societal barriers. “Your emergence as the first female Speaker in Oyo State was not just a personal achievement, but a historic milestone that redefined the role of women in governance and decision-making. Your impactful tenure in the Senate further reinforced your dedication to equity, justice, and inclusive development,” she stated. She added that her contributions to nation-building, particularly in advancing the cause of women and the vulnerable, remain indelible and worthy of emulation.

While celebrating this remarkable milestone, the Commissioner prayed for continued good health, divine wisdom, and renewed strength for the remarkable elder Stateswoman.

She expressed confidence that Alhaja Sunmonu’s voice and guidance will continue to be invaluable in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society. “As you mark this new chapter at 67, we celebrate not just your years, but the depth of your impact and the enduring legacy you have built.
