The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly opposed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary

The party accused INEC of acting under pressure from the federal government.
This position was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

According to the party, the electoral body’s action was influenced by a government unsettled by the growing strength of the opposition, despite alleged attempts to weaken rival parties and push Nigeria towards a one-party system.

ADC described INEC’s stance as inconsistent and at odds with the facts, adding that it would soon address the contradictions publicly. It also warned that the commission’s action suggests it has taken sides against Nigerians.

The party noted that it is currently weighing its options and will soon announce its next line of action, while urging members and the general public to remain calm and resolute as developments unfold.
“We reject INEC’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal ruling. We are aware that INEC is acting under pressure from a government that is uneasy about ADC’s rising influence, despite ongoing efforts to suppress opposition parties.
“INEC’s statement is riddled with contradictions that defy logic and facts. We will make these clear for everyone to see. What is evident, however, is that INEC has bowed to pressure and aligned with the government against the people.
“We are reviewing our options and will make our position known soon.

“In the meantime, we urge our members and Nigerians to stay firm as they await further instructions.
