In a striking personal testimony that is fast becoming a rallying point for grassroots support, Elder Oyekunle Sunday, the respected Chairman of the Landlord and Landladies Association in Akinrimisa, Amuloko, Ibadan, has declared that he obtained his Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) solely because of Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE.

Elder Sunday, a community leader who has never voted in any election since becoming eligible to vote, made the revelation in an exclusive interview, stating that OTOPE’s credibility and grassroots engagement convinced him to participate in the democratic process for the first time.

“I have never voted in my life before. Not once,” Elder Sunday said. “But OTOPE made me understand that my voice matters. It was because of OTOPE that I decided to get my voter’s card. I want to be part of the change.”

His testimony comes amid growing political momentum across Egbeda and Ona‑Ara local government areas, where calls are intensifying for Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji to run for the House of Representatives seat representing the federal constituency in Abuja come 2027.

Elder Sunday, who oversees a large community of landlords and tenants in Amuloko, explained that his decision was not influenced by any material inducement but by the trust OTOPE has cultivated over the years.

“I have watched many politicians come and go. They promise heaven and earth, but when election is over, they vanish. OTOPE is different. He stays with the people. He listens. That is why I decided that if I must ever vote, it will be for someone like him,” he added.

Political observers note that the endorsement from a hitherto apolitical community leader and one who openly admits to never having voted before—carries significant weight in a constituency where grassroots trust remains the ultimate currency. Elder Sunday’s public declaration is being interpreted as a reflection of the deepening, organic support for OTOPE’s aspiration.

In recent months, the OTOPE movement has gained widespread traction across Egbeda and Ona‑Ara, fueled by the philanthropist and development advocate’s accessibility, empowerment initiatives, and sustained engagement with local communities. Residents in several wards have reportedly begun forming support groups, with many first‑time registrants citing OTOPE as their motivation.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the momentum behind Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji continues to build, with community leaders like Elder Oyekunle Sunday lending not just their voices, but their first‑time voter cards, to a movement they believe will redefine representation for the constituency in Abuja.
