Prince Ayodeji Aleshinloye, the Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, has announced his decision not to contest the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming election, describing the move as a sacrifice in the interest of his people.

In a statement addressed to residents of Oluyole Local Government, Aleshinloye expressed appreciation for the support he has received over the years, noting that his decision followed extensive consultations with political leaders and stakeholders.
He said the move was necessary to protect the constituency’s current representation at the federal level.

“This is a sacrifice worth making. It is a modest but strategic one for the growth and greater good of our constituency,” he said.

Aleshinloye explained that his current role as a Federal Character Commissioner presents a rare opportunity for Oluyole, as it marks the first time an indigene of the area is occupying such a position at the national level.
According to him, stepping down from the role to pursue a legislative seat could lead to the constituency losing the position, with no certainty that it would return in the near future.

“If I choose to leave this position now, we risk losing that opportunity, and there is no guarantee it will return to Oluyole anytime soon,” he stated.
