OYO PDP CHIEFTAIN PRAISES GOV. MAKINDE’S ₦10,000 FUEL RELIEF FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Ibadan, Oyo State – Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, and an aspirant for the Membership Federal House of Representatives in Ibadan NorthWest and Ibadan SouthWest Federal Constituency has lauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s approval of a ₦10,000 monthly transportation allowance for civil servants to cushion the effects of rising fuel costs, as a result of a war that Nigerians has basically no reason to bear the brunt.

In a statement, Mayegun Babanumi said, acknowledging the Governor’s humaness, said “His Excellency. Governor Seyi Makinde has often shown that he is above populist politics. He has always been sympathetic and often shown humane feelings towards citizens’ plight, even before he was a Governor.”

Mayegun emphasized that the PDP will always identify with initiatives that make Nigerians comfortable in their country, saying “PDP will always identify with whatever will make Nigerians to be more comfortable in their father’s country.”

The PDP chieftain’s praise comes as Oyo State joins other states in implementing measures to mitigate the impact of fuel price hikes on citizens, thus bringing relief for civil servants and others citizens.

Mayegun express his admiration for Gov. Seyi Makinde’s reaffirmation of his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing speculations about defection and stating that the party will remain a strong opposition force. Mayegun Babanumi emphasized unity within the party, urging stakeholders to adopt consensus-building strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.

Makinde has also expressed his resolve to remain with PDP ideals, stating “I will continue to remain in PDP even if others leave” while emphasizing the party’s potential to provide a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In aligning with Gov. Makinde’s view, Mayegun Babanumi believes that PDP can fix Nigeria despite what the party is experiencing in retrospect of what Nigeria are also undergoing, which he believes ‘are temporary’ said Babanumi.
