Leadership often speaks loudest through action. Across Oyo State, the governance style of Seyi Makinde has continued to emphasize people-centered development, transparency, and impactful service delivery.

This vision is not only visible at the state level but is also being reflected in the activities of local government administrations that share the same commitment to grassroots development.
In Ogbomoso North Local Government, the administration of George Gbadegesin Ogunlade stands as a practical example of how leadership aligned with this vision can bring meaningful development closer to the people.

Since assuming office, Hon. George Ogunlade has consistently demonstrated that leadership at the grassroots must prioritize the needs, security, and welfare of residents. His administration has implemented several projects and initiatives across the ten wards of Ogbomoso North, touching key areas such as infrastructure, security, education, and social welfare.

One of the visible interventions of this administration is the installation of solar-powered street lights in strategic locations across the local government. Communities such as Papa Ajiboye Area in Osupa Ward 09, Toko-Taya Street in Sabo/Taraa Ward 10, Under G Area in Masifa/Aguodo Ward 03, and Isale Afon in Ward 04 have benefited from this initiative. Beyond illuminating the streets, these solar installations have improved nighttime safety and encouraged economic activities within the communities.
Access to clean and safe water has also received attention under the administration. Several borehole projects have been facilitated in different parts of the local government to address water scarcity. Benefiting communities include Ikose Market, Sabo–Taraa Ward 10, Apake opposite the former UBA building, Eledu Community opposite Sayo Filling Station along Iresa Apa Road, Saja Isale Ora in Ward 06, and the Local Government Council Secretariat. These interventions have significantly improved access to potable water for many residents.

Security remains another priority area for the administration. Recognizing the importance of collaboration with security agencies, the chairman has provided support that strengthens security operations across Ogbomoso North. This includes the provision of a new office for the Amotekun Corps, renovation of the vigilante office, and the donation of an operational vehicle to support vigilante patrol activities.

Further demonstrating his commitment to community safety, Hon. George Ogunlade also donated three brand-new motorcycles to key security agencies — the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and local hunters — to enhance mobility and rapid response capabilities. The administration also provided a pumping machine to the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Infrastructure development has also remained a major focus. Several roads across the ten wards have been graded to improve accessibility, while water channels have been dredged to reduce flooding and improve drainage systems within the communities. Additionally, culverts were constructed at Okelerin Junction and Orita Naira Junction to further enhance transportation and water flow.
Education and youth development are equally important pillars of the administration’s agenda. The chairman facilitated the sponsorship of students to Ololade Oyinlola College of Health in Okuku. In addition, five students received scholarships to Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, while four students were sponsored to the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan. Secondary schools within the local government have also received educational materials to support teaching and learning.
Beyond infrastructure and education, the administration has also demonstrated compassion toward vulnerable members of society. Widows have received financial empowerment, while physically challenged individuals and other vulnerable residents have benefited from financial assistance programs designed to support their wellbeing.
Institutional development within the council has also been prioritized. The administration renovated the Soun Ogunlola Town Hall and upgraded the Legislative Building to improve the working environment for councilors. A Toyota Corolla vehicle was also provided to support the leadership of the legislative arm of the council.
In addition, the Local Government Council building was renovated and equipped with solar facilities to improve efficiency and ensure a better working environment for staff.
Hon. George Ogunlade’s leadership journey as a former party chairman has shaped him into a grassroots politician who understands the needs of the people. His administration has continued to promote unity, peace, and inclusive governance across Ogbomoso North.
The development strides recorded in the local government today clearly demonstrate how leadership at the grassroots can complement the broader developmental vision of Governor Seyi Makinde. Through practical projects and people-focused policies, the administration continues to bring governance closer to the people and deliver the dividends of democracy to communities across Ogbomoso North.
