Hon. Bisi Oluranti Micheal, the Oyo State lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of five students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, who perished in a ghastly motor accident along the Suleja–Abuja Expressway on Sunday.

The students, all 500-level candidates of the university’s Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Bachelor of Nursing Science programme, were on their way to Ogbomoso for their final academic phase when the accident occurred.
Among them was a heavily pregnant student, adding to the heartbreak of the tragedy.

Hon. Oluranti, who is also an alumnus of LAUTECH, described the incident as a painful loss not only to the university community but also to the alumni association.

In her condolence message on Wednesday, she expressed profound grief, noting that she could not sleep after hearing the news.
She extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased, describing their loss as colossal and heart-wrenching, given the great potential the students held for their families, state, and nation.

She also urged motorists to strictly adhere to road safety guidelines to prevent such tragedies.

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the fatal motor accident along the Suleja–Abuja Expressway on Sunday that claimed the lives of five LAUTECH ODL students. It is truly touching, and I want to use this avenue to commiserate with the families of the deceased, the university community, and the alumni, who are all thrown into mourning.
It is my prayer that God Almighty repose their souls and grant their loved ones the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses,” she said.
