The 2026 School Enrollment and Empowerment Programme of the Lanre Edegbai Education Foundation has once again brought hope and relief to residents of Ikhin community in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The annual initiative, which began in 2019, has continued to make significant impact in the areas of education and community development. At this year’s programme held on January 15, 2026, a total of 48 students were enrolled for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress.
Beneficiaries of the enrollment are students of Ikhin Mixed Secondary School, many of whom might have struggled to register for the examination without external support. The intervention underscores the Foundation’s sustained commitment to investing in education as a pathway to community growth.

Beyond educational support, the programme also featured empowerment initiatives for artisans within the community, aimed at strengthening their skills and enhancing their means of livelihood. In addition, elderly men and women received cooking gas cylinders to ease domestic burdens, alongside cash support for vulnerable individuals. The distribution process was conducted openly and transparently, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to accountability.

Speaking about the initiative, community members described ACP Lanre Edegbai as a symbol of selfless service. For over half a decade, he has consistently provided assistance to the Ikhin community, demonstrating that leadership is defined not by titles but by impact.
Many residents fondly refer to him as “the Supreme Leader” in recognition of his consistent generosity and accessibility. Others simply call him “Mr. Do Good,” a testament to the visible and enduring legacy of his humanitarian efforts.

Community leaders offered prayers for continued blessings and strength for ACP Edegbai, expressing gratitude for his unwavering support to Ikhin and the larger Owan Nation.

As the programme continues year after year, it stands as a shining example of how individual commitment and compassion can transform lives and uplift entire communities.
