As the crescent moon ushers in the holy month of Ramadan, renowned scholar, former NCC chairman and viable Oyo North Senatorial aspirants, Professor Adeolu Akande, has called on the Muslim Ummah and Nigerians of all faiths to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and national cohesion.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Adeolu Akande described Ramadan as a “profound season of renewal,” noting that the period transcends the physical act of fasting. According to him, the month serves as a vital checkpoint for self-discipline and a reminder of the collective responsibility to care for the vulnerable.
“Ramadan is more than a religious obligation; it is a time for us to slow down and reconnect with the values that define our humanity, empathy, charity, and steadfastness,” he stated.

He emphasized that the current global and national climate requires a “purer commitment to service,” urging believers to use the period to pray for lasting peace and economic stability in the country. He noted that the lessons learned during the thirty-day fast should guide personal conduct and public interactions long after the month concludes.

“As families gather for Sahur and Iftar, my prayer is that our sacrifices are accepted and that our homes are filled with the blessings of peace. Let us remember to extend a hand of fellowship to those less fortunate among us,” he added.
He concluded his message by wishing the Ummah a rewarding month, punctuated by spiritual growth and communal harmony.
