Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has congratulated Muslims in the constituency on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan fast and extended warm wishes to Christians as they begin the Lenten season.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Hon. Adepoju described Ramadan as a sacred season of deep reflection, spiritual rejuvenation and renewed commitment to the teachings of Islam.
According to him, the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent presents a powerful moment for interfaith harmony, mutual respect and collective prayers for peace and progress in the constituency and the nation at large.

The Ibarapa-born technocrat cum politician noted that the holy month offers a unique opportunity for self-discipline, sacrifice, compassion and devotion to God, stressing that its spiritual significance extends beyond fasting to the promotion of peace, unity and mutual understanding within society.

He urged believers across Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North to use the period to intensify prayers for Ibarapa Land, Oyo State and Nigeria, particularly at a time when the nation requires collective supplication, tolerance and responsible leadership.
The federal lawmaker emphasised that Ramadan and Lent strengthen communal bonds and reinforce the values of love and generosity, encouraging adherents to extend hands of fellowship to the less privileged in their respective communities.

“As we begin this year’s Ramadan and Lent, I congratulate our Muslim and Christian brothers and sisters in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North. This sacred month is not only significant to adherents of Islam or Christianity but also to all who cherish godliness, discipline and humanity. It is a good thing that this year’s Ramadan and Lent coincide, as it presents a rare moment of shared spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians.

“Ramadan and Lent are a season of charity and compassion. In the coming days, we will, in our usual manner, reach out to many Muslim and Christian faithful across the constituency in our modest way to support them in observing this important religious obligation,” Ibarapakan said.
Hon. Adepoju assured constituents of his continued commitment to inclusive representation, noting that he remains a lawmaker for people of all faiths and backgrounds.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character prayed for renewed strength, good health and divine acceptance of the fasting and supplications of Muslims, as well as spiritual fulfilment for Christians during the Lenten season.
