The lawmaker representing Atisbo/Saki-East State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Saminu Riliwan Gbadamosi, popularly known as Hon. Wale Canada, has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and Christian faithful across Nigeria as they observe the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

In a goodwill message, the lawmaker described the two spiritual observances as solemn periods that promote reflection, humility, compassion, and renewed devotion to God, noting that both faith traditions uphold the universal values of righteousness, charity, and peace.
Quoting from the Qur’an, Hon. Wale Canada referenced Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183):

“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain righteousness.”

He explained that the verse underscores the essence of Ramadan as a period of self-discipline, spiritual purification, and heightened consciousness of God.
On the significance of Lent, the lawmaker cited the Bible, Matthew 6:16-18, which emphasizes sincerity in fasting and devotion to God rather than outward display, describing it as a reminder that true faith is expressed through humility, prayer, and compassion for others.

Hon. Wale Canada urged Nigerians of all faiths to use the sacred seasons to pray fervently for national unity, peace, and economic stability, stressing that the shared virtues of sacrifice, generosity, and love for humanity should remain guiding principles beyond the observances.

He further encouraged individuals, leaders, and institutions to extend support to the vulnerable, noting that both Ramadan and Lent call believers to acts of kindness, charity, and service to humanity as pathways to a more harmonious society.
The legislator concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and Christians a reflective and grace-filled Lenten season, praying that the sacred periods bring renewed hope, unity, and divine blessings to the nation.
