“What do you do for a living?” Journalist Reuben Abati asks President Tinubu’s son, Seyi
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ex-media adviser, Reuben Abati, has taken aim at President Bola Tinubu’s sons, Seyi and Yinka, for aimlessly lingering at the Aso Rock Villa without clear personal objectives.
During his appearance on Arise TV’s “The Morning Show” on Wednesday, where he co-hosts with journalists Oseni Rufai and others, Abati criticized the President’s sons, labeling them as “idle individuals.”
Expressing his discontent, Abati remarked, “Nigerians question their presence on that list. The real concern lies in whether their father sponsors their stay there, which is acceptable. I also question if they possess the necessary qualifications or entrepreneurial skills to bring investment or contribute positively. If they did, then their presence would be justified. However, what unsettles me in the video we just viewed is the breach of protocol. Having studied diplomacy for four years, their positioning before a federal minister raises doubts about their relevance.
“It raises the fundamental question: What do the president’s offspring do professionally? While I can’t pinpoint their exact ages, considering my accomplishments at their stage, I was actively engaged in meaningful pursuits. I earned a PhD at 24 without relying on paternal backing.
“There comes a point in one’s life where self-sufficiency is paramount. It is disheartening to witness grown adults loitering around simply due to their father’s influence. People of privilege sometimes cross the line, even though these young men likely have families of their own. The predicament faced by their spouses is regrettable. No wife wants a husband who lacks autonomy and initiative.”
