Lagelu Chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Hails Longtime Mentor, Hon. Akeem Ige On Birthday

The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has paid glowing tribute to his longtime mentor and leader, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, describing him as a visionary who spotted potential early and invested in it without waiting for accolades.

In a heartfelt message shared on the occasion of Hon. Ige’s birthday, Kamorudeen recounted how the veteran politician believed in him during his formative years in school, when he was “still searching” and “figuring things out.”

“You were one of those few who really saw us when the path wasn’t clear, and when we were still figuring things out in the eyes of the world,” Hon. Mudashiru wrote. “You didn’t wait for titles or positions. You saw potential before it had a name. And you didn’t just see it; you mentored, you guided, you invested time and faith in a young man who had very little to show”, he stated.

Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, a former Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, ex-member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and one-time Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, currently serves as Chairman of the Local Government Pensions Board in Oyo State. He is widely regarded as a quintessential grassroots mobiliser and a shining example of dedicated public service.

The Lagelu chairman credited Hon. Ige’s early belief and guidance for helping lay the foundation that has enabled him to “stand tall” today in leadership.

“That kind of belief… it doesn’t fade. It builds something lasting. It reminds us that true leadership isn’t about what we achieve alone, but about who we lift along the way,” Hon. Mudashiru stated.

He prayed for Hon. Ige’s continued health, joy, and the return of the same “quiet belief” he extended to many others over the years.

“Here’s to you, my leader, my mentor: May this new year bring you health, joy, and the same kind of quiet belief you once gave me, and to countless others. The best is still ahead,” the message concluded.
