The Chairman of the Oyo Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has been honoured with an award of Excellence by the Oyapidan Community Development Association.

The award ceremony which was held at the Oyapidan community Primary school, Academy, Olomi road, Ibadan was part of the first anniversary and launching of 100,000,000 ultra modern hall and road network organized by the said community on Saturday 31st January, 2026.
While presenting the award to Hon. Ige, the chairman of the community, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Afolabi said the award was in recognition of Hon. Ige’s sterling contributions to the community, Oyo state and the society as a whole.

He noted that Hon. Ige is a rare grassroot politician who is passionate about investing in the development of the people and the society.


When we look at what Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has been doing since his days as the local government chairman. he has made huge contributions to the community development, empowering the people and making life easier for the downtrodden. He is a kind of politician that should always be in position of power. He is accessible, compassionate, humane and down to earth. We are always proud of him.
From our findings, Hon. Ige has made a great feat in the almost two years of his appointment as the Chairman of the board that is overseeing the payment of gratuities and pension to the retired local government staff and primary school teachers in Oyo state. We pray to God to continue to strengthen, protect and grant him wisdom as he continues to make indelible impact in the lives of others.” He said.

In his response, Hon. Aleem Ademola Ige appreciated the community for counting him worthy of the award.

Hon. Ige who expressed his profound gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his magnanimity in appointing him as the chairman of the LGSPB.
He used the occasion to enjoin the people in the state to be wary of disgruntled politicians who are out to dish out falsehood with the sole aim of discrediting Gov. Makinde administration in order to mislead the people as the 2027 election approaches.
He thereafter dedicated the said award to Gov. Makinde for his outstanding achievements especially in the area of welfare of the pensioners and workers in the state.
Others awarded alongside Hon. Ige were the former Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo state, Barr. Adebayo Mutalubi Ojo (SAN), Alhaji Muraina Alamu, Alhaji Muibi Olalekan, Alhaji (Chief) Lamidi Adetona, Alhaji Kolawole Alabi and so on.
