Ona Ara Local Government Area, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has convened its first Security Stakeholders’ Meeting for the year 2026, reaffirming the administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the local government.

The meeting brought together key security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, religious bodies, youth representatives, and market stakeholders to review the prevailing security situation and strengthen collaborative efforts toward sustainable peace and safety in Ona Ara.
Also in attendance was the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Alhaja Mujidat, who led other members of the local government management team to the strategic meeting, underscoring the administrative backing and institutional commitment of the council to security governance.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Ona Ara Community Development Council (CDC) commended Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS for his proactive and people-centered security initiatives across the local government. He called for increased dividends of democracy at the grassroots and urged security operatives to work closely with community leaders before penalizing suspects apprehended around security posts within community areas, stressing the need for intelligence-driven, community-friendly policing.


A representative of the Department of State Services (DSS) expressed appreciation for the continuous support from sister security agencies and stakeholders in Ona Ara. The DSS called for enhanced synergy among all parties, acknowledged support from its headquarters, and appealed for sustained backing from the local government chairman to further strengthen operations.
Representing the Royal Fathers, Oba Kamarudeen Oniladuntan lauded the efforts of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS; the Asiwaju of Ona Ara and Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi; and other security stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to securing the land. The monarch specifically requested the installation of solar lighting at the Badeku Circular Bridge to deter criminal activities and charged security operatives to discharge their duties with humility and professionalism.

In his response, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS announced a major security boost, revealing that 50 vigilantes will be employed in each local government area under the state government’s employment initiative to strengthen grassroots security. He also charged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to intensify operations around Elekuro High School to ensure the safety of students and residents.

The Chairman outlined key resolutions from the meeting, including: Provision of solar lighting and a motorcycle for the Immigration Office, Allocation of motorcycles for the Vigilante Group, Provision of a motorcycle for the Oluode, Provision of a motorcycle for the NSCDC, Inukan LCDA.
He disclosed that the local government would distribute up to six motorcycles to enhance security operations and directed the Vice Chairman and Political Head of Inukan LCDA, Hon. Windapo Oluwole, to immediately facilitate the installation of solar lights under the Badeku Circular Bridge.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Sunmonu; Chief of Staff, Hon. Isiaka Arinola; representatives of the Nigeria Police from Akanran, Ogbere, and Agugu Divisions; Amotekun Corps; the Chief Imam; CAN representatives; Iyaloja; youth leaders, and other critical stakeholders.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to deepen cooperation among all stakeholders, ensuring a safer and more secure Ona Ara Local Government in 2026 and beyond.
