The newly constructed State Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State burst into life on the 24th of December 2025 as the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, alongside the Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the edifice.
The atmosphere around Oke Ado, Ibadan, was electric, as party supporters, passersby and residents poured out in excitement, cheering and chanting in spontaneous celebration of what many described as a landmark moment in the history of the party in the state. The surprise visit instantly turned the area into a carnival of joy, reflecting the deep-rooted connection between the PDP leadership and the people.
During the inspection, Governor Makinde and Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke walked through key sections of the Secretariat, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work, functionality and overall outlook of the structure.
The Governor also commended the creative work of Arch. Setonji Koshoedo who designed and supervised the construction
The visit reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to strengthening party institutions and providing a befitting operational base for the PDP in Oyo State.
The State Secretariat, donated and fully delivered by Governor Seyi Makinde, stands as a powerful symbol of his unwavering loyalty to the party and his belief in building enduring political structures rather than temporary gains. The project underscores the Governor’s consistent position that a strong party remains the backbone of good governance and sustainable development.
Speaking with party faithful during the visit, The Governor assured Party members that the Secretariat will be commissioned within the first quarter of the year 2026 and he urged members to see the Secretariat not just as a building, but as a rallying point for unity, discipline, strategic engagement and renewed mobilisation ahead of future political contests.
The PDP leadership in Oyo State led by Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro commended Governor Makinde for this historic gesture, describing the Secretariat as a legacy project that will serve generations of party members and further consolidate the PDP’s dominance and organisational strength across the state.
As the cheers echoed, one message rang clear: the Oyo State PDP is alive, united, forward looking and ready to deliver victory in 2026.
