The Chairman’s Cup competition, organized by Hon. Lateef Akorede, Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, through the organizing committee led by Hon. Jelili Adeniyi, Supervisory Councillor for Youth and Sports, came to a ceremonious end in a thrilling final match yesterday, Sunday, December 28th, 2025.
The competition final drew a large attendance of prominent individuals and political functionaries from Ibarapa land and beyond, including Hon. (Dr.) Adebayo Adepoju, Member representing Ibarapa North/Central Federal Constituency; Hon. Olusola Adeleke, Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government; and Hon. Adedeji Stanley Odidiomo, who was represented. Other dignitaries included the Council of Obas in Ibarapa North and leaders from various forums in Ibarapa North and Central Local Governments.
Lanre Babes of Ayete emerged first, received a cash prize of N500,000. Akao Super Babes of Igangan came second, took home N300,000, while Victory FC of Igangan secured third place with a prize of N200,000. In addition to the cash prizes, individual awards were presented to outstanding players, including Owolabi Jalailu as Best Player, Ogundele Taiwo as Best Goalkeeper, and Rahman Farihan as Highest Goal Scorer. In a testament to his impressive skills on the field, Hon. Lateef Akorede, who played for Legend FC, was adjudged Best Dribbler of the Tournament.
