GSM @58: Hon. Abiodun Babalola, PhD, Describes Gov. Makinde as an Architect of Institutional Reforms and Legislative–Executive Harmony*

A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North East Constituency I, Hon. Abiodun Babalola, PhD, has extolled His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, describing him as a visionary leader whose administration has entrenched strong institutions, fiscal discipline and productive collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government as the Governor marks his 58th birthday.

In a statement issued in Ibadan to commemorate the birthday of the Governor, Hon. Babalola noted that Governor Makinde’s tenure has been defined by a clear respect for the rule of law, democratic processes and evidence-based policymaking, which have collectively strengthened governance in Oyo State.

According to the lawmaker, the Governor’s commitment to due process and transparency has enhanced legislative oversight and enabled the House of Assembly to perform its constitutional responsibilities effectively in the interest of the people.

> “Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently demonstrated an uncommon respect for institutions and the rule of law. This has fostered a healthy and productive relationship between the executive and the legislature, ensuring that policies and laws are driven by the genuine needs of the people,” Hon. Babalola stated.

He further highlighted the administration’s achievements in budgetary reforms, improved revenue management and strategic investments in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and infrastructure, noting that these policies were products of deliberate planning and collaborative governance.

Hon. Babalola, who holds a doctorate degree, described the Governor as a leader who values data, research and professional expertise in decision-making, adding that such an approach has reduced policy inconsistencies and promoted sustainable development.

> “At 58, His Excellency exemplifies thoughtful leadership—one that is guided by facts, consultation and long-term impact rather than short-term political gains. This is evident in the quality of laws assented to and the consistency of policy implementation across sectors,” he added.

The legislator also commended Governor Makinde for creating an enabling environment for constituency-level interventions, which has allowed lawmakers to effectively attract projects and programmes that directly address the needs of their constituents.

As he joined other stakeholders in celebrating the Governor, Hon. Babalola prayed for continued wisdom, sound health and renewed strength for the Governor to consolidate on the gains of his administration.
