The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Babalola, PhD, has congratulated Chief Barrister Dr. Muyiwa Makinde, Ph.D., on his elevation to the esteemed position of Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The elevation, conferred by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (ARUSA I), the Olubadan of Ibadanland, continues to attract goodwill messages from leaders across Ibadan, reflecting the honour and dignity attached to the revered title.
Hon. Babalola, in a statement released on Friday, described Chief Makinde as a diligent legal luminary, a seasoned administrator, and a committed custodian of Ibadan’s culture, noting that his elevation is a testament to years of consistent service and unwavering loyalty to the traditional institution.

> “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my brother and leader, Chief Barr. Dr. Muyiwa Makinde, on his well-deserved elevation to Gbonka Olubadan. His character, professional excellence, and passion for community development have always stood him out. This honour reflects his lifelong dedication to Ibadanland,” Hon. Babalola stated.

He further commended Oba Ladoja, whose leadership, he said, continues to safeguard the unity, orderliness, and prestige of the Olubadan chieftaincy succession system.
Hon. Babalola expressed confidence that Chief Makinde will bring even greater value to his new role, adding that Ibadan North East Constituency I—and indeed the entire Ibadanland—remains proud of his achievements.
The lawmaker prayed for more wisdom, grace, and strength for the new Gbonka Olubadan as he continues to serve the people and uphold the rich cultural heritage of Ibadan.
