Oyo PDP Receives Adekanmbi, Says Party Will Continue to Serve Oyo People

In a rousing atmosphere, the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State welcomed a former Deputy Chief of Staff and former Commissioner for Finance in the government of Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, Hon. Abimbola Olumuyiwa Adekanmbi, into the Party.

The event, which took place at Gbedeefon in Ward 4 of Onaara Local Government, attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders and local hunters in the ward.

While speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, described Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as a proper and thoroughbred Ibadan man whose father lived a life of service to the people without expecting returns.

One of the traditional rulers who spoke at the event recalled how Pa. Joseph Olalere Adekanmbi came to the rescue of Adigun-un village on several occasions. He described the young Adekanmbi as a man who took after his large-hearted father.

While issuing a PDP membership card, Chairman of the PDP in Oyo Central Senatorial District, Hon. Dayo Opatokun said the defection of Hon. Adekanmbi marked a new dimension in the affairs of the PDP in Onaara Local Government and Oyo State, which signified a more formidable party contrary to what people say about the Party.

In his speech, Hon. Bimbo Olumuyiwa Adekanmbi said the laudable achievements of Engr. Seyi Makinde attracted him to the Party as the governor has done well for the State since he took over.

He said any progressive person who is passionate about the development of Oyo State and what Governor Seyi Makinde has been doing in the last seven years and seven months would have no choice but to queue behind the Governor and give him all the needed support.

He described his defection to the PDP as a homecoming and one which will swell the membership of the PDP as many people are willing to join the Party as time comes.

In his address to the people, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, who represented the State Chairman of the Party, said Governor Seyi Makinde enjoys a lot of goodwill from the people of Oyo State.

He said Governor Makinde has ensured that he did not betray the trust the people of the State reposed in him and he will not fail now.

He said, in spite of what the people said about the PDP, it remains the only Party that has the interest of the people at heart, and people keep joining it because it remains the Party of the people.

Members of the Oyo State PDP State Executive Committee who graced the occasion included Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke Hon. Oludayo Opatokun, Hon. Micheal Ogunsina, Hon. Mufu Ogunremi, Hon. Kazeem Olalekan Bello, Barr. Gbadegesin Waheed, Hon. Moses Oluyinka Tella.
