Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has commissioned the newly reconstructed and remodeled Moniya Area Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police at Ishabiyi, Moniya, Ibadan, an impactful project delivered by Akinyele Local Government under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye. Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the Oyo State Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting the rising threat of criminal infiltration nationwide. He emphasized that the strategic location of the police station will not only enhance security operations but also boost the local government’s revenue potential.

Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, commended Hon. Akinwole Akinleye for installing a motorized borehole within the police premises, stressing the importance of water for effective policing. He further highlighted ongoing efforts by the Gov. Makinde-led administration, including the construction of the Moniya–Akinyele road and the recent acquisition of two aircraft to fortify the state’s security framework. He applauded the project as a significant addition to the state’s security architecture and urged residents to make responsible use of the facility while maintaining vigilance.
In his welcome address, The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye described the Area Command building as a project with a long history, explaining that the Command had been operating from the Divisional Police Headquarters due to space constraints. He stated that reconstructing and remodelling the Area Command was necessary to reinforce security across the area’s vast borders amid rising cases of banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping. He painted a vivid picture of Akinyele Local Government as a bustling, diverse, and fast-growing transit hub that demands robust security presence.

The Executive chairman of Akinyele Local Government stressed the need for Nigeria to develop an integrated national security database linking NIN, BVN, INEC data, passports, driver’s licences and telecom information to track ransom payments and terrorism financing. He also emphasized the importance of education, job creation, and labour-intensive industries in reducing youth vulnerability to crime.Hon Akinwole Akinleye expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his unwavering support and concluded with the famous Robert Kennedy quote: “Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves… every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on.”


Goodwill messages from dignitaries, including Commissioner for Education Hon. Segun Olayiwola and ALGON Chairman Hon. Sikiru Sanda, acknowledged the importance of the project in strengthening security within Akinyele and neighbouring areas. They commended the Gov Makinde administration for prioritizing security and praised Hon. Akinwole Akinleye for his exemplary performance and dedication to community development. Hon. Olayiwola, a former chairman of the LG, also described the Akinyele Council Boss, Hon Akinwole Akinleye as a worthy successor who has continued to excel in office and can now be called a successful successor without any gainsaying.
DCP Salaudeen Isiaka who represented the Oyo Commisioner of Police, reiterated the readiness of the Nigeria Police to work with residents to enhance safety, urging the community to share information that could help combat crime. Party leader Engr. Akinsola also applauded Hon.Akinwole Akinleye for delivering quality projects and upholding the trust of the political leadership and citizens. In the vote of thanks, PDP Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Oludayo Opatokun, described the council boss as a blessing to Akinyele Local Government whose developmental strides continue to make the PDP the party to beat in the area.
After the commissioning of the Area Command, the delegation inspected and inaugurated motorized boreholes executed by the council chairman. The first borehole at Ishabiyi was commissioned by Engr. Akinsola, who praised the chairman’s people-oriented approach. The second borehole at Olorisaoko Ward 11 of the Local Government was commissioned by House of Representatives hopeful Hon. Toheeb Adegoke, who commended the chairman’s impactful leadership and assured residents of continued progress. Jubilant community members expressed their gratitude to Hon. Akinleye, offering prayers for his continued success and acknowledging his unwavering commitment to their well-being.
