BREAKING :Akinyele LG reads riot acts to mushrooms Brothels harboring criminals, Emphasizes Ban on Late Night Okada Operations

In a decisive move to strengthen security and restore orderliness across Akinyele Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has issued firm directives targeting criminal hideouts and late-night activities that pose risks to residents’ safety. The resolutions were announced during a high-powered security stakeholders’ meeting held at the Local Government Conference Hall, attended by security operatives, religious and community leaders, top management of the council amongst others.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye lamented the disturbing rise in criminal activities linked to unregistered brothels, illegal night entertainment centres, and uncontrolled nighttime commercial motorcycle operations. To curb these threats, he declared a total ban on all mushroom brothels, illegal boxing arenas, and unapproved dancing nightclubs operating within Akinyele Local Government. He emphasized that these structures would not only be shut down but also be demolished to prevent their resurgence.

The Executive Chairman further reaffirmed the earlier resolution prohibiting night vigils by all religious groups within the local government. He explained that the measure, though sensitive, became necessary to reduce vulnerabilities that criminals often exploit during late-night gatherings. He called for continued understanding and cooperation from all faith-based organizations as security remains a collective responsibility.

In addition, the restriction placed on commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, from operating between 11pm and 5am remains fully in force. Hon. Akinwole Akinleye stressed that the curfew has significantly helped security agencies in monitoring movement at night, thereby reducing crime rates. He warned that violators would face immediate confiscation of motorcycles and appropriate sanctions.

The ban on the use of fireworks and the hosting of carnivals across various neighborhoods was also reaffirmed. According to the Council Chairman, these activities often serve as cover for criminal elements and contribute to unrest, especially during festive periods. He noted that the directive aligns with the orders of the Oyo State Government and the state Commissioner of Police, urging residents to adhere strictly.

Reiterating his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, Hon.Akinwole Akinleye assured stakeholders that his administration will continue to take bold and proactive steps to secure Akinyele Local Government. He called on residents to be vigilant, report suspicious activities, and support the collective effort toward achieving a safer and more peaceful environment for all.
