As part of a renewed drive to strengthen the security architecture of Ona Ara Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, today convened an expanded security stakeholders’ meeting that brought together all security agencies, local vigilante groups, and community leaders across the public and private sectors.

In a statement signed by the Chairman’s Press Secretary, Mr. Rahmon Alawode, the meeting, held at the council secretariat in Akanran, reflects the council’s growing commitment to tackling the rising cases of criminal scavenging, theft, and other related offenses within the local government area.
Present at the well-attended session were representatives from the Nigeria Police Force (Akanran Division), Operation Burst, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and several community-based security outfits. They were joined by members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Community Development Council (CDC), traditional rulers, religious leaders, corporate organizations, the Youth and the Iyaloja of Ona Ara, all united by a shared commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Ona Ara.

In his keynote address, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS charged all security operatives within the council area to strengthen surveillance and intensify efforts to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive season across all communities.

He expressed concern over the growing menace of criminal scavenging, noting that it had reached an alarming level and now poses serious risks to community safety.
While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful and business-friendly environment, Dr. Temitope Kolapo also challenged corporate organizations to become more active partners in community security initiatives.
“Security is not just a government responsibility it’s a shared duty. When companies refuse to support local interventions or turn a blind eye to community safety issues, they indirectly make themselves vulnerable. It is in everyone’s best interest to contribute,” he asserted.

In his remarks, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Akanran Division, CSP Amuda Lukman, lauded the Chairman’s unrelenting efforts and appreciated him for his kind gesture in reviving the administrative section of the Akanran Police Division, a move that has enhanced operational efficiency.
The meeting, which lasted several hours, featured frank discussions and practical suggestions. Participants agreed to establish a joint intelligence-sharing platform among all security agencies in the local government, while the council pledged logistical support to strengthen community patrols and rapid response efforts.
Among the resolutions reached were plans for the installation of solar lights under the Circular Road Bridge at Iyana Olubode to improve night visibility and safety, and to host a meeting with Amuloko market stakeholders aimed at addressing emerging security concerns in the area.
The expanded security meeting underscores the administration’s proactive approach to ensuring that Ona Ara remains safe, peaceful, and conducive for residents, visitors, and businesses during and beyond the festive season.
