The city of Ibadan is set to once again host one of its most anticipated intellectual and social gatherings, The Ibadan SitOut, scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Now in its fifth edition, The Ibadan SitOut has become a melting pot for young creatives, professionals, and socially responsible individuals who seek to unwind, connect, and engage in thought-provoking conversations about the realities shaping Nigeria’s socio-cultural and digital landscape.

This year’s theme, “Balancing Creativity, Personal Development & Civic Responsibility: The Nigerian Content Creation Dilemma,” will explore how young Nigerians can harness digital creativity as a tool for empowerment rather than distraction.

Speakers joining the conversation include:

• Ayo Adams, media entrepreneur and social commentator

• Madam Balkis Oke, Managing Director, Lights Architect Nigeria

• Mr. Olu Awolowo, Chief Executive Officer, DistrifoodsLimited

• Mr. Samuel Ibikunle (Arugbo Bois), digital storyteller and cultural content creator

• Mrs. Aminat Aderayo Animashaun, award-winning crafter, founder of De’rayo Brand and De’rayo Empowerment Foundation

• Mr. Onyeka E. Chukwudi, business analyst, strategist, and convener of the Progressive Advance Youth Vanguard (PAYV)

Since its inception, The Ibadan SitOut has consistently blended relaxation with reflection. Over the years, the event has featured diverse voices—from mental health experts who enlightened participants on emotional balance (2021), to INEC officials who conducted a voter education exercise (2022), top media influencers and young leaders (2023), and leading entrepreneurs who shared insights on innovation and enterprise (2024).

According to the convener, Oluwatoyin Adeyemi, this year’s edition will challenge Nigerians to rethink their digital engagement and rediscover how creativity can foster personal and national development.

“In a world where content is king, we must ask ourselves, are we creating content that builds us, or content that blinds us? The SitOut offers an opportunity to reflect, connect, and reclaim the value of intentional creativity,” she said.

As anticipation builds, The Ibadan SitOut 2025 promises a refreshing blend of insight, inspiration, and genuine human connection, a celebration of creativity with purpose.
