In a symbolic show of support to the informal sector, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has offered an initiative of free fueling to over 200 local motorcycle (Okada) operators across the local government area.

The initiative, which took place amid smiles and cheers from the beneficiaries, was a direct intervention to ease the burden of economic hardship faced by many local transporters.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Badmus Teslim, the local government’s supervisory councilor for transport— remarked the gesture was inspired by the chairman’s people-centred leadership and his desire to uplift the masses at the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of the council chairman, the transport supervisor applauded the commercial motorcycle operators for their resilience, noting that their contribution to transportation and the local economy cannot be overemphasised.

In response, many of the operators expressed deep appreciation to the council chairman, describing him as a rare kind of leader who understands the people’s needs. With joy written on their faces, they showered prayers and praises on the council chairman, thanking him for remembering them in such a practical and impactful way.
“This is the first time we are witnessing such a significant recognition and support from a local government chairman. May God continue to bless him for this timely help,” one of the excited beneficiaries remarked.
