As part of efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Oyo State, the Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, has inspected ongoing construction work at the Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital in Ibadan.

The visit focused on the new Emergency Children’s Ward currently under construction, a project sponsored by the Kareem Foundation.
During the inspection conducted by Dr. Fagbemi, it was observed that significant progress is being made on the project, which is expected to improve emergency pediatric services and alleviate long-standing space constraints that have limited the hospital’s operations for over 15 years.

Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, which was established in 1928, is one of the state’s flagship healthcare institutions, renowned for its maternal and child healthcare services.

The hospital also provides gynecological care, pediatric services, antenatal and postnatal support, as well as family planning.
According to Dr. Fagbemi, the new Emergency Children’s Ward represents a significant milestone in the hospital’s development and aligns with the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across Oyo State.
“This project is a testament to what can be achieved through strategic partnerships between government institutions and philanthropic organizations like the Kareem Foundation,” he noted.

“Once completed, the new ward will ease pressure on existing facilities and improve care for our children.”
The Oyo State Hospital Management Board reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring healthcare projects to ensure quality service delivery and sustainability across the state’s public hospitals.
