2027: Makinde has set Nigeria’s rescue mission in motion with the success of Oyo PDP Congress – Akeem Olatunji

The executive chairman of Oluyole LG in Oyo State, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde has set Nigeria’s rescue mission in motion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olatunji stated this on Monday while reacting to the peaceful and transparent conduct of the Oyo PDP State Congress held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

He described the congress as a model of internal democracy and proof that the party is fully prepared to take charge of Nigeria’s political leadership in 2027.

According to him, Governor Makinde’s leadership has not only repositioned Oyo PDP but also strengthened the confidence of Nigerians in the PDP as the only party capable of rescuing the nation from its current challenges.

He maintained that PDP remains the only credible alternative to help Nigeria redeem itself from the current socio-economic quagmire he accused the ruling party in the country of plunging the nation into.

He urged Nigerians to focus on how governor Seyi Makinde has successfully led conducts of peaceful party Congress from ward to state level without a single record of violence, describing governor Makinde as the ‘game changer’.

“The congress we witnessed in Oyo state is beyond a mere state exercise; it is a signal to Nigerians that PDP under Governor Makinde’s guidance has found the winning formula to lead the rescue mission in 2027.

“With transparency, unity, and inclusiveness, our party has shown the world that democracy can truly work when the right leaders with genuine intentions are in charge” Olatunji said.

He hailed the newly elected executive committee led by Alhaji Dayo Ogungbenro, who was returned as Chairman for a second term, urging them to see their victory as a call to greater service.

Olatunji emphasized that the unity displayed by leaders and stakeholders at the congress was a demonstration of the renewed strength of the PDP in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

Highlighting the significance of the congress, Olatunji stressed that it marked the beginning of a national mission to rescue Nigeria from economic hardship, insecurity, and disunity.

He noted that the peaceful process had reaffirmed Makinde’s reputation as a political stabilizer and strategist whose influence would shape the PDP’s national outlook ahead of 2027.

He added that with Makinde’s consistent investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security in Oyo State, Nigerians now have a practical example of what good governance looks like under PDP stewardship.

“Governor Makinde has proven that good governance is possible even in difficult times. What we are doing in Oyo will be replicated across Nigeria when PDP returns to power. The success of this congress is the starting point of that journey,” Olatunji declared.

The Oyo PDP spokesman urged party members and supporters across the state to remain steadfast and united, assuring them that the congress had laid a strong foundation for victory in 2027.
