Ambassador Engr. Dr. David Olusegun Okanlawon, Chairman of the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) and Executive Director of Luli Construction Company, has joined the people of Igboora and the wider Ibarapa region in mourning the passing of Dr. Amos Adepoju, the esteemed Asiwaju of Igboora.

Dr. Adepoju, a respected elder statesman and community icon, passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 89.

In his heartfelt condolence message, Ambassador Okanlawon extended sympathy to the Adepoju family, particularly Hon. Dr. Anthony Bayo Adepoju, who represents Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency. He also offered prayers for comfort and strength to the entire Ibarapa community during this period of loss.

Ambassador Okanlawon described Dr. Adepoju as a pillar of progress and a beacon of selfless leadership.

“Dr. Amos Adepoju’s passing is a profound loss to his family, Igboora, and the entire Ibarapa region. His unwavering commitment to community development and service stands as a shining example for all,” he stated.

Highlighting Dr. Adepoju’s remarkable achievements, Ambassador Okanlawon recalled his instrumental role in the transformation of the Igboora Literary and Progressive Union into the Igboora Progressive Union (IPU).

Under Dr. Adepoju’s guidance, the union spearheaded landmark projects such as the establishment of Igboora High School, Igboora Town Hall, and the Technical College now known as OYSCATECH.

Dr. Adepoju’s distinguished career also included serving as Rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, and as a National Commissioner for Interior.

Ambassador Okanlawon noted that Dr. Adepoju’s leadership paved the way for many Ibarapa indigenes to excel in national services, including the Civil Defense, Immigration, and Prisons sectors.

“Dr. Adepoju’s life is a testament to the enduring impact of visionary leadership and community service. His legacy will continue to inspire generations, and his contributions will remain a cornerstone in the history of Igboora. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Ambassador Okanlawon concluded.
