The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Imam of Eruwaland, Sheikh Dr. Billah Shittu, at his residence in Sango, Eruwa, to personally congratulate him on his emergence as the spiritual leader of the Muslim community.

The visit came in the wake of the passing of the revered former Chief Imam, Sheikh AbdulKareem AbdulSalam Olore.

The Speaker was warmly received by the League of Imams and Alfas in Eruwa who appreciated his consistent engagement with the religious and grassroots institutions.

The Speaker offered heartfelt prayers for the repose of the late cleric’s soul and prayed Allah to grant him eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus.

During his visit, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin applauded the peaceful and united process that led to the emergence of Sheikh Dr. Billah Shittu as Chief Imam, commending the maturity and cooperation displayed by the Eruwa Muslim community.

“I commend the peaceful nature of the selection process. This unity is what we need to move our community forward. I encourage all Muslim faithful to support and work closely with our new Chief Imam for the continued progress of Islam in Eruwa,” the Speaker said.

He emphasized the need for synergy between the Chief Imam and the Muslim faithful to ensure effective coordination of religious activities and greater impact in the community.

In addition, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin used the opportunity to tour the orphanage home founded and run by Sheikh Dr. Billah Shittu.

Deeply moved by the care and love extended to the children, the Speaker interacted warmly with them and took group photographs with the young residents of the home.

He praised the Chief Imam for his humanitarian service and expressed his readiness to support such noble causes that uplift the less privileged in the society.
