A group within Oyo APC, Igba Otun, has called on the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and the former gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Teslim Folarin, to step aside from the forthcoming Oyo gubernatorial race in the state and instead, the duo should become kingmakers in the party.

The group emphasised that the party should seek new leadership as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
In a statement released by the group’s spokesperson, Akin Ademola, they argued, “Both Teslim Folarin and Bayo Adelabu will continue to polarise the party if either of them is on the ballot. Their past experiences have not united us; rather, they have deepened divisions within our ranks.”

The group believed that it is crucial for the APC to “do away with the duo going into 2027” and instead allow a fresh, neutral and popular aspirant to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.

The group, however, tipped Hon. Aderemi Oseni, the current House of Representatives member for Ibarapa East/ Ido Federal Constituency, as the ideal candidate for the party in the upcoming election.
They praised Oseni for his “sterling leadership qualities” in Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, stating, “Engr Aderemi Oseni has demonstrated remarkable commitment to his constituents, and his track record speaks for itself.”
“He embodies the change we need to rejuvenate our party’s image and appeal.”

They further stated, “Oseni’s ability to connect with the grassroots and his innovative approach to governance make him the perfect choice for the APC as we strategise for the future.”
The group is confident that, under Oseni’s leadership as gubernatorial candidate, the APC can regain its lost ground and foster unity within the party.
