The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (OYOLGSC) has announced the release of promotion letters for the 2023/2024 promotion exercise, marking a significant milestone in the state’s civil service reform.

The Commission’s Chairman, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, disclosed that the release of the promotion letters follows the approval of Governor Seyi Makinde, underscoring the administration’s commitment to timely promotion of public servants.

A New Era for Local Government Staff
The promotion exercise, which commenced about two weeks ago, has brought relief to thousands of local government staff across the 33 Local Government Areas and 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

According to Akinwole, over 10,000 eligible staff have benefited from multiple promotions under the current administration in the past six years.

This development has eliminated the practice of inviting retired staff for promotion interviews to resolve outstanding entitlements. This move has been described as a landmark achievement in the history of the state civil service.

Governor Makinde’s Commitment

The Commission Chairman commended Governor Makinde for his commitment to the welfare of public servants in the state.

Akinwole assured that with the completion of the 2023/2024 promotion exercise, all local government staff will henceforth earn their promotions as and when due.

He urged all local government employees to reciprocate the government’s gesture with renewed dedication and alignment with the goals of the Makinde-led administration.

A Boost to Staff Morale
The release of the promotion letters is expected to boost staff morale and productivity in the local government service.

The development is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of its employees and its determination to create a more efficient and effective civil service.

As the promoted staff take up their new roles, they are expected to contribute to the implementation of the government’s policies and programs, which aim to improve the lives of the people of Oyo State.
