The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, joined dignitaries, traditional rulers, political leaders, and well-wishers at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo town, to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Ikubaba yeye, Oba Abimbola Owoade.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Olamidun Ogundoyin, the Speaker described the golden jubilee of the revered monarch as a significant milestone in the history of the ancient Oyo Kingdom, adding that the new Alaafin has already shown signs of purpose-driven leadership and royal grace.
In his goodwill message at the colourful celebration, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin congratulated the Alaafin for clocking 50 in good health and high esteem.

He prayed for divine wisdom akin to that of King Solomon to guide the monarch in his reign.

“Your Imperial Majesty, I join millions across Yorubaland and beyond to congratulate you on your 50th birthday. As you ascend the sacred throne of your ancestors, may God grant you uncommon wisdom, strength, and foresight to lead Oyo Kingdom to greater heights. May this new chapter of your life be crowned with the wisdom of Solomon. May your throne be a source of positive transformation not only for Oyo town but for the entire Oyo State and Yorubaland. May it bring peace, unity, cultural revival, and unprecedented development to Oyo town, Oyo State, and the Yoruba nation at large,” the Speaker said.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State House of Assembly to continue supporting traditional institutions in the state and working collaboratively with the Alaafin and other royal fathers to foster grassroots development and preserve Yoruba customs and traditions.
The event was graced by royal fathers, government officials, members of the Oyo Mesi, lawmakers, political stakeholders, and citizens from across the state and beyond.
