A prominent community leader, business magnate, and financial expert, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, has reaffirmed that his philanthropic gestures are driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility to society, not politics.

Speaking in a recent interview on the popular radio programme Tiwa Loselu on Lagelu 96.7 FM, hosted by Oluwasina Alayo Ogo Ede, Oloye Adegoke stated, “My philanthropic acts are not politically motivated.

I’ve been engaged in these efforts long before politics ever came into the picture.”

According to Adegoke, his journey in humanitarian service began over a decade ago and intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His initiatives include annual empowerment programs for widows, the construction of classrooms in Koso, Iseyin, the provision of motorized boreholes in Iseyin, support for artificial irrigation projects at LAUTECH, sponsorships for best graduating students at Obafemi Awolowo University, and donations toward the revitalization of agricultural farms in Ile-Ife.

“We never know who we help that the Almighty uses to help us in return,” he added reflectively, emphasizing the spiritual foundation of his philanthropic efforts.

On his political journey, Adegoke revealed that his involvement in politics began as far back as 1988 during his student days at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he served as a Faculty Representative at the Student Representative Council.

His first major political outing came in 2015 when he contested for a seat in the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency under the Accord Party.

Currently, Adegoke has set his sights on a greater ambition: the governorship of Oyo State in 2027, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I joined politics to make meaningful impact,” he said. “Politics, to me, is enjoyable, never a do-or-die affair.

Movement is improvement; stagnation is a disease. We must continue to aspire.”

He further explained that his guiding principle is built around what he terms the “6Ps”: Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

With this mindset, he emphasizes strategic vision and preparation.

“I look ahead, I plan ahead, because I have a target, and I must keep moving forward,” he stated confidently. “I never doubt myself. I have confidence and I have God.”
