Ibadan, June 26, 2025 –

In a powerful and inspiring moment during the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) inauguration ceremony held today, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, made a significant promise to support the educational pursuits of indigent students.

Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic and hopeful students, Hon. Kamorudeen publicly announced that students of FIBSU who are indigenes of Lagelu Local Government will benefit from a bursary payment within the next two months. This pledge was met with resounding applause and visible excitement from the audience, marking a turning point in the relationship between the government and the student community.

> “Education is not just a privilege; it is a right. As the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, I am committed to ensuring that no brilliant student is left behind due to financial challenges. We will begin bursary disbursement within the next two months,”
— Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen.

He further urged the youth, particularly FIBSU members, to become more involved in politics and governance, emphasizing that students are not just future leaders but current changemakers with a vital role to play in community development and policy influence.

> “Don’t wait until graduation to start shaping the future. Get involved, ask questions, take responsibility, and be the voice of the people. Politics is not a dirty game; it becomes dirty when good people stay away,”
— he encouraged during his speech.

This announcement has sparked hope among many financially struggling students who view the bursary as a much needed support to ease their academic burdens. FIBSU executives also praised the Chairman’s promise, describing it as a step in the right direction and a reflection of responsive leadership.

In addition, he promised to always support every FIBSU events.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Ibadan House Oke Aremo brought together student leaders, government representatives, and other dignitaries. The event was filled with cultural displays, speeches, and a renewed sense of unity and purpose within the FIBSU body.

As students await the fulfillment of this bursary promise, there is a growing call for other local governments to emulate and invest more in education at the grassroots level.
